Embracing the Aging Process

Age = A Great Expert

Our natural aging process is constantly being undermined by the barrage of media and advertising that suggests our only value is based on our sexual appeal and ability to stay young alluding that only the young posses beauty and sensuality.

In fact, the older we get, the better many of us get, if we've continued to grow and mature, so why would we try to fight it? Wisdom, experience, expertise, skill and evolving beauty are the trademarks of an aging person who designs their life well. Why would one trade these attributes in for rawness, naivety, inexperience, immaturity or the Hollywood view of sexy?

We diminish in body strength, flexibility, eyesight, hearing and overall capacity through genetics or the natural aging process, and more rapidly if we haven't taken care of ourselves. However, if we've been astute, we increase in wisdom, expertise and knowledge, and amplify our capacity to love, understand and forgive.

What We Can Do to Combat These Negative Messages?

Turn off and tune out negative media messages and center instead on your strengths and evolving maturation.

Choose to focus on the beauty, sensuality and wisdom that always resides in a healthy spirit - no matter what the age.

Take stock of all your successes and the failures that helped you grow and become the shining individual you are today.

Continue to be open-minded and question everything.

Find areas where you can mentor your skills to the young.

Share your stories, insights and expertise - be a consultant to the community.

Follow your passions and excitements and do fun activities that keep your mind sharp your body limber and your spirit soaring.

Whatever faculties you've lost, be thankful for the time they served you, not lament the fact they are gone. Focus on and appreciate what still works.

Eat, sleep, exercise and think right.

Keep your mind full and your bowels empty.
